The Advancing the Science of Cancer in Latinos (ASCL) biennial conference series is the only national and international cancer conference for Latinos, by Latinos, and about Latinos.
The 2026 ACSL conference, the fifth biennial conference, comes at a critical juncture for US health. Cancer is tied with heart disease as the top cause of death for Latinos, and there continues to be stark differences in this population's access to preventive screenings, treatments, and survivorship and palliative care. The health of Latinos is important for the health of the nation, where nearly one in three people are expected to be Latino within 30 years.
To address these health issues, the 2026 ASCL conference brings together cancer survivors, caregivers, researchers, physicians, patient leaders, and many other key stakeholders – under one roof – to discuss timely research advancements, identify gaps in our knowledge and understanding, and develop goals that translate basic research into clinical best practices and effective community interventions while centering the non-medical drivers of health that perpetuate the cancer burden in this group.
The vision for the 2026 ASCL conference is to present timely research on every stage of the cancer continuum from prevention to survivorship, and to unite stakeholders from across the nation and beyond who are conducting patient, community, and translational cancer research.
The 2026 ASCL conference is where we find solutions, tailor research questions to the realities of our population, create strategies to increase clinical trial participation, shepherd the next generation of clinicians and researchers, build precision medicine, and communicate health, prevention, and survivorship in a way that resonates with our community.
